Piccola to
Discuss Connecticut City Leaders' Decision to Evict Riverfront Homes
HARRISBURG --
Senate Majority Whip Jeff Piccola
(R-15) will be available to the media today from 3 to 3:30 p.m. in Room 173,
Main Capitol Building, to talk about New London, Connecticut officials' decision
to evict residents from their riverfront properties including the cottage owned
by Susette Kelo for refusing to give up their homes based on a U.S. Supreme
Court ruling last year that allowed governments to seize property for private
development purposes.
In May,
Pennsylvania broke new ground in protecting property owners from abusive land
takings by providing them much-needed and long overdue protections when enacting
Piccola's "Property Rights Protection Act" into law.
