Senate Adopts Robbins' Resolution Commending Community Action
Agencies
HARRISBURG -- The
State Senate unanimously approved a measure sponsored by Senator Bob Robbins
(R-50) commending the work done by Community Action agencies in Pennsylvania.
"There are 43
community action agencies serving all 67 counties, offering a broad range of
services and assistance to low-income individuals and helping them move out of
poverty and into self-sufficiency," said Sen. Robbins. "These agencies address
a multitude of the most pressing needs facing families, including food
assistance, emergency and affordable housing, home weatherization, literacy and
education, job training and placement, transportation, day care, drug and
alcohol abuse prevention, and personal and family development."
"For many
years, I have had the pleasure to work with the Mercer County Community Action
Agency," said Robbins. "I would personally like to thank Ron Errett and his
fine staff for all the positive work they have done in the lives of those in my
community."
In addition to
commending Community Action agencies, Senate Resolution 273 designates the month
of May as "Community Action Month" in Pennsylvania.
