Corman Takes
Part in Event to Mark Patient Assistance Day
HARRISBURG -- Senator
Jake Corman (R-Bellefonte) today took part in a news conference at the State
Capitol to declare April 5 as "Patient Assistance Day" in Pennsylvania.
Corman was
joined by legislators and representatives of the Partnership for Prescription
Assistance (PPA) of Pennsylvania.
PPA of
Pennsylvania is the state chapter of the largest private-sector effort to assist
patients who need help paying for prescription medicines.
The press
conference also commemorated the program's first anniversary. Corman said that
in one year, PPA has provided prescription assistance to 91,000 state residents
who are not covered by private insurance and ineligible for state or federal
programs.
"This program
has been crucial in helping many commonwealth residents to obtain the medicine
they need to stay healthy," Corman said. "Working with participating
pharmaceutical, PPA and other organizations find ways to make prescriptions more
affordable for those who need them most.
