Statement on Senate Passage of Pay Raise Repeal
HARRISBURG -- The State Senate today voted unanimously
to repeal the pay raise for members of the Legislative,
Judicial and Executive branches.
Senate President Pro Tempore Robert C.
Jubelirer (R-Blair), a leader of the repeal effort, said
rescinding the pay raise was the right thing to do to
preserve public confidence in the legislative process.
"Pennsylvania citizens made it very clear
that they did not support the pay raise and their voices
were heard," Jubelirer said. "It was a mistake to enact the
pay raise, and we have responded appropriately by repealing
it."
Jubelirer said Senate Republicans will
continue pushing their strong pro-taxpayer legislative
agenda, which includes property tax reform, tax cuts, state
spending limits, supporting the military, and changing
eminent domain laws to protect private property rights.
