Jubelirer, Brightbill Pay Tribute to Senator Ed
Holl
HARRISBURG -- Senate
President Pro Tempore Robert C. Jubelirer and Senate Majority Leader David J.
Brightbill today issued the following joint statement on the passing of Senator
Ed Holl:
"Senator Ed Holl was a dedicated and effective legislator -- but public service
was just one of his talents. He was a watercolor artist whose paintings
hang in many offices in the State Capitol and Montgomery County. He built
and repaired clocks and watches. A fine trumpet player, Ed was former
leader of an 18-piece orchestra during the Big Band era, playing with the likes
of the great Tommy Dorsey.
"A certified flight instructor and licensed commercial pilot, he was a strong
advocate for Pennsylvania's Civil Air Patrol. He learned to restore
antique vehicles such as his 1931 Model A Ford and a 1949 MG, which he rode in
community parades. He was active in many community organizations, and was
a huge supporter of the Boy Scouts of America.
"On top of all that, Sen. Holl was an effective legislator who did much to
improve our health care system, expand health services for children, reform the
state's banking and insurance laws, and improve his district.
"Ed Holl was a true Renaissance man. We were proud to serve with him, and
to learn from him -- not just about politics and the legislative process, but
about music, art, and life."
