First Week of #PAGAwebideas Initiative Brings Creative Ideas
to Improve Legislature's Website
HARRISBURG – Citizens from across Pennsylvania have used Twitter, Facebook
and email to recommend improvements the General Assembly's website (www.legis.state.pa.us)
in response to Senate Majority Leader Dominic Pileggi's
#PAGAwebideas
initiative.
"The early response has been very encouraging, and I look forward to
receiving even more ideas," Senator Pileggi said. "By using the Internet in new
and creative ways, we can help citizens become more engaged with the General
Assembly -- and that can only improve how state government works."
Some of the ideas submitted so far are:
- Adding live and archived video of committee hearings and meetings.
- Making it easier to find legislation by topic, rather than by bill
number.
- Posting marked session calendars.
- Announcing upcoming committee meetings via Twitter and an opt-in email
list.
- Creating an official directory of legislators using Twitter and
Facebook.
Anyone who would like to suggest an idea for improving the General Assembly's
web presence can tweet to
@SenatorPileggi, tweet using the hashtag
#PAGAwebideas, send email to

Capitol, Harrisburg, PA 17120.
